Okay, So I know I haven't posted in a loooooong time, I do apologize little blog. This past summer was filled with baseball games, a vacation, birthday's, a homecoming, a new job && of course moving!!

By the way, I love comments; however, I do not love comments that are not in English and not pertain to the post. So if a post like that is done so, again- I will report you.

Now- one of my co-workers makes these amazing & adorable tutu's & headbands as hobby! She's located in Missouri but she ships everywhere!! p.s. She will personalize them with favorite colors, names, holiday's or sport's colors.

She's making this ladybug one again for my niece's birthday in November :)

And last but not least, as you know, I love Glamour magazine & I love their "Hey it's Ok" section & these are my recent faves- which I'm guilty of ;) ...

...to paint your first two nails when you wear peep-toe shoes.

...to sit on the couch on a sunny summer Saturday watching Pretty Woman.

...to consider driving with the windows down as an effective hair-drying method.

....to take great pleasure in telling guys to "man up".

Oh yes, I'm super excited about Hot in Cleveland!! For a few reasons of course... 1. I love that it's Midwestern based; 2. I love girlfriend sitcoms; and 3. Betty White, enough said.

Kind of makes me want to visit Cleveland.

However, what is this latest obsession with Betty White? I hope this isn't going to be like Taylor Swift. I used to love Taylor Swift songs until the pop stations played the more pop-y version of her songs. I wish she was still down-to-earth country.

Run for Riah's Rainbow 5k

So I've been quite busy with my senior year at IC quickly coming to an end, that I haven't been blogging much lately. On top of that I've decided to plan a 5k for Riah's Rainbow, May 1st 5 p.m. in Jacksonville, IL. After the 5k there will be a Kids Fun Run around the track followed by a prize giveaway and awards ceremony. And after that- adult refreshments will be served while Planet Boogie provides the entertainment. Still have your kids with you, well there will be kids art project tables available!

I'll be posting the registration form soon but if you would like to donate to the Run for Riah's Rainbow 5k you can send a check made out to Run for Riah's Rainbow, 639 South Diamond Street, Jacksonville, IL.

For the teenage years...

Don't listen to what your friends think. Think for yourself. Make mistakes and learn from them. Don't break curfew because in doing that, you will break my trust and it will take some time to rebuild.

Study hard and don't skip classes, unless it's to go to Great Adventure with your friends once a year; those memories will mean more to you than the punishment you will serve for it.

If you're going to drink, don't drive. Call me anytime, anywhere and I'll be there without judgment.

Put all of yourself into everything you do, even if you hate it. Apply to lots of colleges. Don't follow your friends or what is safe. Do what you want, even if it scares the hell out of you.

No one is better than you and you are better than no one else. If a boy breaks your heart, tell your brother. He'll kick their ass. If a girl breaks your heart, tell me. I'll kick her ass.

Spend your money for stupid things, like a car or new clothes because one day, you'll have bills and wish you were more free when you didn't.

Don't worry about the popular crowd. They're usually insecure and will grow up being assholes. Be nice to everyone, even the "weird" kids. Often, they will end up being the most loyal friends and interesting people.

Call your grandmother.

For the college years...

Be your own white knight. Don't wait for anyone to rescue you. Live on your own just once, even if it is only for a few months.

Travel and take every opportunity presented to you to do so. Be proud of who you are and never make excuses. Don't drink and drive.

Love your body. It is only young once. Take care of it.

Work hard in your career and in your family. Marry a person who isn't afraid of your independence, but supports it with his or her own. Don't marry if you don't want to. Have children and love them so much it hurts because only then will you know the true breadth of existence.

Save some money but don't worry so much about it. No one's headstone ever read: Had lots of money in the bank.

Be a good friend. Call people back. Hang out with your brother and get your families together often. If you move away from home, come back at least twice a year. The roots are the strongest part of a tree.

Laugh a lot and love hard. Nurse a broken heart with expensive vodka and ice cream.

Call your grandmother.

Riah's Rainbow

Recently, I've become extremely involved with this charity, Riah's Rainbow! I discovered Riah's Rainbow through a dear friend who knew Riah.

Mariah (Riah), had a rare and inoperable brain tumor. The type of tumor she was diagnosed with is called a Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). This type of tumor is located in the brain stem, at the base of the brain. Affecting primarily children, it is the rarest and worst of pediatric brain tumors. Approximately 150 to 200 children are diagnosed each year.

During those times that she was admitted to the hospital, Riah would distract herself with coloring.

The ultimate goal of Riah's Rainbow is to bring smiles to the faces of children who have to endure a day, a week or even months in the hospital. Our mission is to be able to give local hospitals new coloring books, crayons, markers, colored pencils, craft items, etc. to pediatric patients. Each time they visit they will receive a new coloring book & box of crayons to take home with them.

I love the idea of formally asking those whom you would like to be in your bridal party. Cut out the shape of the dress you plan on using in the color you desire and personalize each person with some paper hair. To complete the set I created a little card asking “Will you be my bridesmaid?” and included the wedding details as well as how and where to order the dresses. Not that anyone ever needed to twist my arm to get me to like any of Vera Wang's clothes, but these are just too amazing for words. The dresses are crazy romantic, and I love the rhinestone detailing on the dresses or as added by a gorgeous necklace. Leigh Pennebaker's elegant and whimsical yet edgy sculptures have me intrigued.

I read about Leigh's sculptures in Mary Engelbreit's Home Companion magazine.

Her work is labled wire couture and is created entirely from fencing wire. Her sculptures have been shown in galleries around the USA as well as the windows of Saks Fifth Avenue and Barneys in NYC.

The sculptures meant to show the womanliness in way the clothes are worn, they are three-dimensional caricatures.

So, I'm a "Dress My Nest" fan, and this episode is my favorite. A newly single mom reviving her feminine side.
I love the use of the color pink from a dress, the desk, chandeliers and love seat.
There is also an armoire that I love, Thom Felicia wallpapered the inside with a gorgeous blue and gold covering. Oh, and an amazing long hallway to the bedroom, it builds up to this chic boudoir!

A newly developed bra designed to change it’s shape and support according to changes in a woman’s body heat has been found to have an unforseen side effect - it tightens up and boosts cleavage when the wearer becomes aroused.

The bra is made of a special foam and fabric that changes shape according to temperature. It’s design is intended to stiffen or expand the material at different times, like when the wearer goes jogging it offers more support and when she’s at rest it loosens up to become more comfortable.

But when the woman’s temperature changes as she becomes sexually aroused, the bra also tightens up and boosts up her cleavage. A great side effect if you’re a woman on the prowl and trying to attract a mate.

The specially responsive foam used in the bra uses technology developed by NASA in 1966. The space study center created the foam for use in aircraft cushions, but while it never made it into orbit, it is used today in form memory mattresses and as a safety lining for sports helmets.
